But, what can you do? NewsChannel 8's Kim Jackson has some ideas. <BR><BR>You can try to avoid the gas station. But, that won't work. The energy bill did provide some incentives for you. You can save money by purchasing hybrid vehicles, or by using compressed natural gas. <BR><BR>The cheapest gas you'll see in Tulsa is 79-cents per gallon. But, it's compressed natural gas. And, the price sounds
right to Orville Gregory. <BR><BR>"We were talking, if gas keeps going up, we should convert to natural gas, a lot cheaper fuel," he says. <BR><BR>The business of compressed natural gas is blowing up. At Tulsa Gas Tech, they build CNG stations and convert some cars and trucks to compressed natural gas. <BR><BR>"We've been doing cities and utilities for quite a while now," says Charlie Sewell. "But, we're getting a lot of calls from individuals wanting to convert their cars." <BR><BR>You can find a brand new converted car at Joe Marina Honda. <BR><BR>"People react quickly to oil prices," says Tom. "It seems like when gas goes up, cars that get better mileage are the ones they are looking at." <BR><BR>They also have hybrids, the cars that run on gas and electricity. But, both alternatives have higher sticker prices, typically about 10-percent more. <BR><BR>The new energy bill provides you
with a tax break if you buy either one of these cars. But, if you decide to have your own car converted to compressed natural gas, it costs a lot -- about seven thousand dollars we're told. <BR><BR>Right now, with federal and state tax incentives, converting your car might be worth it. But, you might have to sacrifice convenience. There are only about 40 compressed natural gas stations in the whole state. </FONT></B></STRONG></SPAN></B></STRONG></SPAN><BR></FONT></FONT></FONT></DIV></div></html>
