Hi ALL

>From your perspective, what rationales have you seen for banning or
discouraging the use of Wagner's Lohengren? I'd enjoy your own opinions -
AND reports from the field.

This is some of what I've heard

1. "Here comes the bride" places the wrong message by focusing on the
bride's entrance; this is not an appropriate message to make in the Entrance
Rite of our Liturgy.

2. "Here comes the bride" is over-done in secular circumstances (like TV and
movies)-and has become trite.

3. Some people (priests. Pastors, musicians) are simply tired of it.

4. Wagner - there is plenty to criticize about him - therefore: don't use
his music
	a. his operatic messages are often profane, including Lohengren
itself
	b. his personal life is disreputable
	c. his anti-Semitism created lasting injury

5. Wagner invented Chromatism. Chromatism is, itself, largely evil (see
"Dionysius Rising" by E. Michael Jones (Ignatius Press).

Personal opinion -
1. emphasize/sympathize with points 1-4,
2. completely lost on point 5 (I got the book as a Christmas gift).

Despite everything, I happen to LIKE Wagner's music including HCTB!
