Today is the feast of St. Isidore, patron of farmers, and a very blessed feast day it is. I have posted a new prayer from the National Catholic Rural Life Conference at the http://www.onpilgrimage.justpeace.org blog.
Next week is the observance of the "Minor Rogation Days", which is the only celebration in the Roman Rite that is explicitly agricultural. As we have gradually separated ourselves from nature and buried ourselves in concrete cities (well, some of us anyway), the observance of these days has died out. But even if they are not being celebrated in your liturgical communities, families and small groups can still observe these important days of fast and abstinence. I have placed a new page at the Justpeace site with some liturgical resources and background for these observances, and for convenience the links are listed in this email.
