Nina Polcyn Moore, Catholic Worker pioneer and
friend to many in Chicago
land, went joyfully to God about 4:00 this
morning, February 10.
Nina, who was one of Dorothy Day's earliest
friends and a co-founder of
Holy Family House, the first Milwaukee CW, is
remembered by many in
Chicago for her years of work at St. Benet's
Bookstore downtown.
Nina was one of the reasons I moved to Evanston
and was a dear friend
and mentor to me, so it's hard to imagine this
planet without her but I
know she want Father Bob Pawell prayed with her
yesterday afternoon at
the home of her sister Helen Heyrman and Helen's
husband Don. Nina's
dear friends, Dr. Peter and Barbara Blaine were
with her at the end, and
they prayed a litany of all the friends she would
be joining in our
great cloud of witnesses to the good life well
lived.
"All is well. All manner of things will be well."
The funeral Mass will be at Sheil Center at 11:00
on Saturday, February
24.
"We are the people who run this country. We are
the deciders. And every
single day, every single one of us needs to step
outside and take some
action to help stop this war. Raise Hell....We
need people in the
streets, banging pots and pans and demanding,
"Stop it, now!"
