For our Oklahoma City area subscribers. . .
This past week has been quite a busy week. Saturday we did our Thanksgiving deliveries. Now we are getting ready for Christmas.
The food delivery ministry that we do just doesn't magically happen. By the time the volunteers arrive to make up bags of groceries and deliver them, a considerable amount of work has been done. Food is delivered by the Regional Food Bank, but it has to be put on shelves, arranged, and etc. and most of that work has fallen on one person, Marcus Evans, who is spending about 20-25 hours every week doing this. 8000 pounds of food are arriving today, and there aren't many hands available.
This is not a sustainable situation over the long term. We need to recruit volunteers to help with the "back end" work of our food delivery system. If you can help at the Dorothy Day Center during the week, please contact Marcus directly at 740-0697.
Remember the old saying: many hands make light work.
